Deathwish Coffee: Not a sponsor, Just a need – 15:00

Stalled  – 15:14

My tubular cast on for the DNA Sweater was lumpy and misshapen. After careful consideration, and pulling on random bits of yarn, the issue was resolved.

Life on the Road Update – 2:00
It took three years, but the covid finally got us. I am still recovering. Mr. Kickass (the spouse formerly known as Husbando) says he is doing fine. As we came out of our isolation and masking period, I was knocked over by a kidney stone like Hulk Hogan would clothesline Macaulay Culkin. That is not my joke. I heard that joke on a now defunct promotional podcast for the book “Southern Lady Code” and the joke was made by author Helen Ellis. A woman far funnier than I will ever be.

As covid, flu, and other respiratory yuckies ramp up, remember to Mask Up! It’s just polite. Projectn95 is my source for effective respirators.

Fashionably Riding – 9:27

We take joy in the return of sweater weather and the episode gets a title.

View From The Charles‘ (ravelry link) by BostenJen of the ‘Downcellarstudio’ podcast.

“View From the Charles” in some kind of silk blend yarn. I don’t remember what, but it is pretty.

Gauge Rage: Scream into the Void – 14:47

Open Throttle – 14:57

The ‘Mesmerizing Riddler‘ (ravelry link) by Mone Dräger (NOT a Rav link, but the website is in German) may be causing eyesight degradation, but it is worth it.

The ‘Baby Rose Blanket‘ (ravelry link) is complete.

“Baby Rose Blanket” in it’s full glory.

The ‘2023 Sweater‘ (ravelry link) for Mr. Kickass has a completed back and front!

“2023 Sweater” sleeves. Surprise!

The ‘DNA Pullover‘ (ravelry link) has a completed back – but I need to get knitting if it is to be finished by the next opportunity to see the recipient.

Mom’s Yarn Stash: OMG24:18

Stalled – 24:40

The ‘DNA Pullover’ tried to trip me up one than once. It was definitely the sweater, and not ADHD/Dyscalculia brain being unable to differentiate left from right. Definitely. Hint: it is not the pattern nor the sweater.

Got a reminder from the ‘Mesmerizing Riddler’ Socks to read the entire pattern.

Standard Time: It’s about Time32:33

The roses in the garden carried on like the little troopers that they are, and got me thinking over and over again if, to cultivate energy and inspiration for knitting; one has to cultivate the opportunity for such energy and inspiration to exist.

Gear Check – 00:58

This is where we fully get into the amigurumi Pokemon kit by Sabrina Somers.

The Kit was available in the US at Michaels.

I found the kit to be both a good introduction to amigurumi – which is different from ‘standard’ crochet – as well as a thoughtful and detailed introduction into crochet itself. Sabrina did a wonderful job explaining the differences between amigurumi and ‘standard’ crochet and provided easy-to-understand instructions to make a high quality pokemon to start your own pokemon adventure. Gotta Crochet ’em All!

Gauge Rage: Scream into the Void – 31:00

Scenic Route – 31:11

Audio-Man, Mom, and I discuss a different place where we find inspiration – local fairs!

Our local fair is the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. Your local fair can be an incredible resource to find other fiber crafty people to connect with the community, learn about local action to support the fiber arts, and sometimes just to show off. Validation is never to be discounted.

Not something Mom won the extra big purple ribbon for, but near enough for her to share.

Health Things!(tm) continued to pop off leading to a wheelchair rental from the company Scootaround, a service that I didn’t even know existed.

MAGLEV for knitting on new horizons!

Mom advocates for taking time to simply enjoy yourself and reminds everybody that mental breaks are needed.

Fashionably Riding – 14:19

Mom mentions several shawls that she has worn in places with arctic air conditioning, and recommends materials for summer knits. I also had been wearing the “Pride Shawl” (ravelry link) under similar circumstances.

Open Throttle – 18:37

The “Meandros Socks” (ravelry link) are finished, so the “Radioactive Socks” are introduced.

Mom mentions that this year, ladies of the family will be receiving “Waverly Weekend Cowls” (ravelry link)

Audio-Man introduces everyone to his idea of designing his own sweater, rather than using a different design for his first sweater.

We introduce the amigurumi kit for Eevee, Mr. Kickass’ favorite Pokemon.

The rest of the episode is actually in part 2! Available early on Substack!
