Episode 17: Life Lessons; Yarn Content, Grace, and Selvedge Edges

All links to Ravelry are labelled as such. I try to include links to outside websites as much as possible. At this time, I am not including links for purchasing yarns, needles, etc. If I do, they will also be appropriately labelled. As a quick reminder: I am not affiliated with any businesses. If you’d like to show your support of the podcast, please rate and review on your listening device, follow me on instagram, and / or join the ravelry discussion group (ravelry link) if it is safe for you to do so.

Master Hand Knitting a.k.a. MHK level 1 re-submission swatches have been completed and are blocked. All that remains is the writing and a little bit of seaming.

The re-knit swatches blocking.

A new project, a Wingspan (ravelry link) shawl by Kyle Vey (ravelry link) a.k.a. VectorKnits, is being swatched for. The swatch is out of Miss Babs ‘Yowza‘ (ravelry link) in the colorway “Gomez” (ravelry link). The final shawl will be a purple gradient.

The gradient and swatch for the Wingspan.

The ‘Phenomenal’ Sweater has gained a few inches! The pattern called for some ill-advised increases, instead of blended increases away from the selvedge edge. The exact techniques I used are in my project page.

Gauge Rage: Scream into the Void – 08:18

Stalled – 08:28

The Wingspan gauge swatch is written for linen stitch. Difficulty calculating gauge will ensue. I’m also not sure if my linen stitch is front to back or what.

Mom’s Yarn Stash: OMG – 10:15

Dropped Bike – 10:39

The ‘Ultimate Koi Pond Meta Socks‘ (ravelry link) have wound up as a dropped bike. The gauge swatch that I had made previously will simply not work. The gauge is meant to be in the round. My swatch was not.

Sunshine: Making yarn gremlins of all of us. – 16:02
