Pigments of Inspiration: Does the WHY Matter? – 08:35

Open Throttle – 09:01

The editors of Cast-On, the magazine published by TKGA, try to include patterns with technical articles to reinforce concepts and help knitters learn new techniques. To this end, Arenda had been working on an accompanying piece for the article Alternate Seam Start by Binka Schwan (ravelry link). Arenda’s piece is the ‘Verticals‘ sweater (ravelry link) in Hikoo Rylie.

I had knit 14 pieces of swatches 3 through 7. They weren’t blocked at the time of recording.

Pieces of swatch 3. Seed Stitch seaming.

Arenda is mostly a monogamous knitter, but has a cobweb weight lace shawl that she will pull out for times when her hands just need to stay busy.

The gusset decreases on the ‘Ultimate Koi Pond Meta Socks‘ (ravelry link) are almost done. and I am grateful that I can continue to work these socks two-at-a-time. Arenda has wisdom about how to avoid second-sock-syndrome – make two different socks! For an example, check out the accompanying piece to ‘Verticals’ ‘Thistle‘(ravelry link)! Remember, nobody who would notice should be that close to your feet!

The stitches between the markers are the stitches to be decreased. 4 left!

A tiny amount of spinning has occurred. Arenda, however is a devoted knitter and while she has tried spinning, she prefers knitting.

Sunshine: Making yarn gremlins of all of us. – 22:35

Stalled – 22:52

Arenda shares some of her design process – she acts as her own test knitter to be able to make changes to her designs as needed. It is thus that she discovered that the tension of her latest design, at the time of recording, was too loose. And she had to rip out the four inches she had already knit.

She also shared a historic stall from an undisclosed sweater she had made for herself. She had used a different needle size while making the back of the sweater and ultimately decided to rip the project. But she leaves us with the wisdom “Feature the Flaws”.

The remaining gray for the ‘Ultimate Koi Pond Meta Socks’ had to be split so that I could continue to work on both socks.

A game of yarn-chicken was started on the ‘Wingspan‘ when I was pretty sure I would not get a full row out of what I had eft of ‘Pinot Noir Grapes’ the fourth color of the mini skein set by Miss Babs.

The game of yarn chicken is imminent. For the record, I lost.

Besties: Making *~*Magic*~* Happen – 32:20

Gear Check – 32:33

Arenda shares her favorite needles: ChaioGoo steel interchangeables, and fantastic advice for unconventional stitch markers – Dental/Orthodontic Elastics.

A not-so-secret-anymore weapon against forgetting where you made an increase/decrease.

Standard Time: It’s about Time – 37:24

Scenic Route – 37:57

The ‘Brigadoon’ and ‘Flamenco’ roses were both confused by the weather in early March. The ‘Flamenco’ rose sustained some damage in the snow and ice. I ended up bracing the damaged stem with a scrap of wood and secured it with a wire.
