Episode 34: Dominance

All links to Ravelry are labelled as such. I try to include links to outside websites as much as possible. At this time, I am not including links for purchasing yarns, needles, etc. If I do, they will also be appropriately labelled. As a quick reminder: I am not affiliated with any businesses.

Home repair and renovations are picking back up. Laying tile is fun, but messy. From experience I know that concrete thin-set and yarn shouldn’t mix.

Sweaters!!! My ‘Magic Sweater‘ (ravelry link) and my ‘Caledon Fall‘ (ravelry link) sweaters have come out!

The Pieces of the Layette for The Stylist have blocked beautifully. Always fun when that happens. The Layette includes The Baby Cardi (ravelry link), the Campus Onesie (ravelry link), the Solaria Blanket (ravelry link), and a hat with owl cables that has no true pattern.

The final piece of the Onesie before assembly.

Speaking of fun, the Funhouse Socks (ravelry link) are going so fast on the new, larger, needle size.

Look at the sock grow!

Reading directions fully and checking brilliant plans involving magnets against those directions prevents heartache. Not mine, but hopefully my mistakes will help you avoid them.

Could have avoided ALL of this! Pattern Directions – READ Them.

Deep Dive – 17:06

This episode talks extensively about yarn dominance. For a refresher, yarn dominance is created when one yarn of stranded colorwork has slightly larger stitches from being held below the other yarn or yarns. A dominant yarn thrusts itself into the foreground of the colorwork, even if the color itself is normally a neutral or ‘background’ color. For more information, I used this article from Interweave.

For right-handed knitters using dual handed colorwork, the yarn in the left hand is the dominant one.
